1 Down-Way More to Go!

I can’t believe May is gone already. Actually, if I am thinking about it I was saying the same thing about April. This year is going by so fast and I have so many projects in the works. I will do a breakdown here soon. But, first I want to share what I accomplished this month.

Back at the beginning of the year I made a goal to write 20k a month. Then decided that was still too steep for me so I adjusted it to 10k a month. So far, I have only accomplished it in April thanks to Camp NaNo. Now I am happy to say I can add May to my list of months where I completed my goal. My word count for May is over 12k. I was hoping to hit 15k, but family and design projects got in the way. I am just extremely ecstatic about accomplishing it for this month and can’t wait to see if I can do it again in June. I will keep you updated.

As for my projects I finally put the final touches on Bonds of Betrayal. I have shipped it off to my editor and now I just sit back and wait. I finished chapter 3 in my Vortex Book and sent that out to all my members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List. Now I have to work on getting chapter 4 done for June 25th. After I accomplish that project I plan to work on A Forbidden Friendship. The 9th installment into my Tales of Ferrês series. Right now that is what my month of June has for projects. Now lets talk about what I have planned for after the Tales of Ferrês is complete.

At the beginning of 2020 I plan to release book-length works. The first planned is my Path to Redemption book. It is a prequel to my Demonic Embrace series. Then I will release Cyber Fated a PNR book geared towards the New Adult crowd. After that I plan to release my first collection of horror stories around Halloween. Finally, my last project of the year will release the first book in my Legacy of the Silver Ryder series, Tarzinëa: Rise of the Varrin. If that isn’t enough I plan to write in an anthology as well.

My writing schedule is about to blow up big time. I plan to keep everyone updated and don’t forget to check in when I do my Worlds Beyond feature here on my blog. In this monthly feature I plan to do showcases from the worlds I am creating.

Hopefully, I am not biting off more than I can chew but here is too trying. Till next month I hope you all have a wonderful June.

What’s to Come…

It has been a few crazy weeks for this girl. Between the design projects, organizing, getting ready for four takeover events and dealing with the kids, it has been hectic. This next month I plan to make changes and get back to writing on my blog. Right now with all the crazy going on I will publish two posts a month.

The first post will feature a normal update with life, writing and my design work. This post will also contain information about my works in progress. I will talk about where I am at in the project, provide teasers, or discuss situations I am struggling with. It will depend a lot on what is going on with that project when writing my post.

The second post each month will be different. I am calling this feature, Worlds Beyond. What is this all about? Well, it is a fun way for me to introduce you to my works in progress. I will discuss anything and everything about the world I am creating. There could be character features, where the character comes in and talks to you. Another, fun post is the world building features. I will do break downs about the world and the different places within it. Creatures will be another fun feature that will get mixed into the works. Overall, the Worlds Beyond feature is to showcase the worlds and beings within it to you my readers. You will have to wait and see what I have in store for you.

Now that you know my blog schedule I plan to spend the next bit talking about my works in progress. Right now I am working hard on two projects. The first is my Tales of Ferrês series. I just released story #7 as of March 31st. This means I have four more stories to write, edit and complete to finish the series. Once these stories are done and released, I then will write another story as a bonus to include in the bundle book. I am hoping to have this project completed before August.

My other project is my Vortex Series: Book 1 (doesn’t have a title yet). On March 25th I released the first chapter to the members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List. What do you mean released a chapter? Well, I decided with this project that I would release it in a rough form with basic edits to my members. They then will get to see the story unfold over the next several months chapter by chapter. Once this project is completed I plan to do a comprehensive edit, send it out to betas and complete it. As I dot the I’s and cross the T’s, I will then put the final touches on this project and release it to the public. All members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List at time of publication will get a free e-copy. Now comes the question you have been waiting for. Are you a member? If not, you can become a member of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List by clicking the image below.

This month I am participating in Camp NaNo, so I hope to put a dent in some of these works in progress. Wish me luck and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Life, Books, & Updates

Time has gone by fast since the last time I posted here on my blog. There are several reasons I have neglected to keep everyone up to date on what has been going on these last several months.

The holidays, life with twins, writing, and events have taken their toll on my ability to keep everything up to date. I plan to get back into posting on my blog here, soon. Not sure yet if I will keep things the way I originally had it, but will at least attempt to post several times a month.

You’re probably wondering what’s knew. The last several months my kids have grown bigger and more destructive. They literally tear the cushions off the couch now. Now they are destroying the place I have limited time in front of the computer. I try to do something each day even if it kills me.

As for my writing, I took a break with my release schedule. Originally, I was releasing a story a month with my Tales of Ferrês series. However, I ended up getting burned out. So, when February rolled around I took a break in between releases. This decision was because of facing a bad case of the writer’s block. After a few weeks of reading books and relaxing I could get out of my funk.

I now am working towards releasing the seventh story in the series. I schedule it for release on March 31st. I have an event planned for it and everything. However, the cover reveal comes first. If you would like to join the cover reveal party instead of waiting for me to post it here on my blog, please stop by here.

My main goal for my writing is to finish up the Tales of Ferrês series and bundle them all into a book. Should have this done by June I believe **says without checking the calendar**. Once this series is done I plan to work on my first books in several other series. One is an ongoing release like the Tales of Ferrês, but is structured differently.

The new project I am talking about is my Vortex Series. I will release book one to members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Reader List chapter by chapter. This means they get a chapter a month. Then when the book is done it will get bundled together. Even bigger is all members will receive a free ebook copy of this book. It will also get released to the masses too and get put into print format. I will do a post here soon about the story itself and then you can decide if you want to become a member or not.

Either than all these new projects, kids growing up, and life things are still busy. Things are still very much the same and hope you can forgive me for my lack of attention to the blog. Heres to next time.

#AuthorAMA: What themes did you use for your story “A Father’s Protection” and how was your writing process?

I am working my way through questions over on my AMA (Ask Me Anything) platform before it goes live on Tuesday. Yes, I can’t believe it is already here and I still have a dozen questions to answer. I am hoping to get a dent in these tonight before I go to bed, so I don’t have to many when the platform goes live. This being said if you have a question on cover design, being an indie author or on my WIP submit them here. It seems with each passing day more questions appear, I will defiantly be happy to answer them all.

This post highlights a question that got my head turning and made me realize how I need to work on myself as an author. This would be an easy question hands down, however, I realized I needed to do more research into my direction for my world Tarzinëa, and my short story “A Father’s Protection”.

Here is the question:

What themes did you use for your story “A Father’s Protection” and how was your writing process?

This was my response over on the platform:

My writing process for this story differed from my usual. I started out just writing flash fiction tales featuring characters from my WIP series, Tarzinëa. This process was to help me find each character’s true voice and personality. I didn’t realize how this would turn out till DarkDeath took over and his story with Digger came to life.

When I was writing this, I wasn’t thinking about any specific theme; it took on a life of its own. However, your question led me to think about what themes this story falls into, so yes I researched.

A Father’s Protection falls into several common themes that many writers used to further their plot. The themes this story falls into are: love, power, survival, courage and heroism, and war.

I thought I would provide a breakdown for how “A Father’s Protection,” falls into each of the listed themes. These themes will surface regularly throughout the Legendary Heroes Saga, through the publication of short stories, novellas and full-length novels. However, below will comprise the breakdown for this story alone.

LOVE -This story depicts the love between Father and son. DarkDeath isn’t one for showing emotion due to it being weakness amongst the kyres. However, when the time comes to protect one he loves he will move heaven and earth to protect them.

POWER – There has been a longstanding civil war within the forest between the kyres and twin-tailed foxes. The kyres are a dominant creature and have overpowered the twin-tails throughout the history of their land. Due to his deeds on the battlefront DarkDeath became the King of Beasts and why the kyres now are the true leaders over the Forest of Ferrês.
This leads to a power struggle between the two creatures when Digger finds himself inside the twin-tails territory and DarkDeath has to get him out before SilverHide takes him down.

SURVIVAL – This story has a big survival theme, since it centers on Digger going into enemy territory and DarkDeath fighting for both their lives. It is a survival of the fittest for protecting those you love and proving you’re the dominant creature.

COURAGE AND HEROISM – DarkDeath is the hero is this tale and throwing your wellbeing out the window for your pup is my definition of heroism. He is a courageous creature on his own merit, however, DarkDeath doesn’t hesitate when it comes to protecting those he loves. It takes a lot of courage to blast into enemy territory and take a on twin-tail without a second thought, especially when he can get overrun my the deceitful beasts without notice.

WAR – This tale focuses on the bond of Father and son as stated above, however it is more a battle scene than anything.

If you have any questions related to writing, my published works, WIP or the craft of designing covers head over here to submit your questions. I will feature questions here or on my design blog, I believe will be appropriate for my audience.
