Creature’s Weekly: Gargoyles

gargoyle on city tops under moonlightOne of my favorite creatures growing up were gargoyles. I loved the Disney series so much I couldn’t get enough of it. This love for this show is what inspired my Vortex Series though. The Guardians are gargoyles from another realm that protect those of paranormal descent in the human realm. They have human like bodies with skin the color of copper, bluish hide, or bronze. Each gargoyle has a long tail they use for balance an as a weapon. They have razor sharp claws the retract on their hands and feet. They even have razor sharp teeth that almost make them look like vampires and have eyes almost like black wholes.

They are actually a beautiful race that many don’t understand within the human realm. Cassie Armel is one of the first humans to work alongside them without fear. She helps them protect those the Triad seek to destroy, which turns out to be her partner Max. One of the biggest rivalries though is the Guardians verse the werewolves. They just don’t get along probably because they both are a dominant species. This will make working with Garrick and Max interesting for Cassie.

If you haven’t had the chance to check out Gargoyle Sighted the first book in my Vortex Series I strongly suggest you do. Each month I release a new chapter to my subscribers and will offer it as a freebie in ebook format once completed to them. You ever hear about the first story of how a gargoyle was created on the side of our church buildings? Check this out here:

The priest Romanus struck a deal with villagers of Rouen, promising to take care of the dragon called La Gargouille if they agreed to be baptized Boden Gargoyle Sentineland to build a church. The villagers agreed, and the priest headed to the River Seine, where he subdued the dragon in its cave and led it back to the town to be burned at the stake. The dragon’s head and neck, however, were well-tempered from his fire-breathing habits, and so would not burn. The remnants were instead mounted on the town wall. –hence, the first true gargoyle! I didn’t know about gargoyles connection to dragons, but after reading that little story I now know why I love them just as much as dragons. 🙂

Progress Report: Life Gone Crazy

Life has gotten away from me since my last progress report. I’m still hard at work putting the final touches on my Tales of Ferrês Bundle Book. Right now I am working on the bonus story edits. I have come to realize that one of my characters comes off as a really big bully. This means I have to soften the big bad wolf up and hope he doesn’t loose any of his personality through the changes. I would tell you who it is but there would be know fun in that. You will have to read the story yourself to see who it is that tends to be a pain in the neck to write. Speaking of reading…Tales of Ferrês is on Pre-Order at your favorite retailer for the discounted price of $1.99…If you haven’t pre-ordered this book yet you can HERE.BookBrushImage-2020-1-25-12-4933

What are my plans from now on? Well my plans are to finish up the Tales of Ferrês this month and put the final touches on it for its May release. Then I will focus on writing Gargoyle Sighted for my subscribers. I’m hoping to have it almost done by May with the limited time I have to write I might not be able to finish it by the end of May like I wanted. After that I plan to write the next stories in my Tales of Tarza short story series. I already have ones story pretty much written just have to finish it. Then I will work on the other eight. Yeah this next series won’t be as long as Tales of Ferrês. But if I do it right it won’t take me that long to release the stories to the public. I do plan to have them written in advice before I start releasing the stories. I’m hoping to start releasing these stories this fall of 2020. Not sure if I will make my August deadline like I want but it varies by how my writing time increases and decreases.

My goals for this month…

  1. Finish edits on Bonus Story
  2. Finish edits on The Assassin’s Prophecy, The Wrath of SnowFire and A Father’s Protection
  3. Write the next chapter in Gargoyle Sighted.
  4. See how far I can get in Gargoyle Sighted before the end of the month.

This month is trying already and I’m hoping to make headway through things. Wish me luck and I hope everyone stays safe and healthy through these trying times.

Character Interview w/ Auren

Welcome to a new week. It’s Monday and I got a treat for you. I am sitting down today with Auren from the Shadow Stalker Series in her very own interview. Stop in and check it out. Hope you have an enjoyable read. Good luck on the rest of your week. 🙂

Character Interview

Auren
From the Shadow Stalker Series

Who are you and what makes you great?
My name is Auren. I wouldn’t say I’m great, but I do have an important purpose (not one of my choosing).

What is your sole purpose in life?
Well, if I had a choice, I’d just want to go to school, have a career, get married, and live a happy and quiet life. Unfortunately, that’s not in the cards for me. I’m a shadow stalker, and I have a purpose that has been given to me by the shadow people. I have to stop a raving lunatic from destroying the people of the Serpent Isles.

What kind of adventures have you had that stay with you to this day?
The camping trips I’ve taken with my foster father, Kado. Usually, he’s all business, but when we’ve gone on those camping trips, those were the best times. We’d have such a great time.

Do you have a love interest? If you do please tell us about him/her or why you don’t.
No, I guess I just haven’t met the right person yet. I’m not really looking for a relationship right now anyway. Especially not when my life has suddenly gotten so complicated.

Tell us about your journey you are on and how it has helped you grow as a person.
Rather than growth, I think learning who I am, and what I am, has made me realize I don’t know myself at all. I’m still trying to figure everything out. Maybe, once I finish my training as a shadow stalker, I’ll have a better idea.

What kind of creatures do you see on a daily basis?
Does Kado count? No, seriously. I’m new to the Dark Isle, so everything is new to me. I can tell you this… I’ve never been to a place where the plants were more like creatures. It’s quite unnerving!

Who do you look up too? Why?
As much as I often complain about him, I do look up to Kado. He’s the only father I’ve ever known, and even though he doesn’t really show it, I know he cares about me. He’s taught me everything I know.

If you had one thing about yourself that you would want to change what would it be?
I’d be a normal person instead of a shadow stalker, so I could have a normal life.

Who is your ultimate enemy? Why?
Drevin and the Galvadi Empire because they’re the reason my life has turned upside down. They’re the reason everyone is in danger.

What should we expect from you in your coming book?
Well, I hope I can finish my training and stop the Galvadi so my life can be somewhat normal again.Shadow Stalker - Book Feature (2)

The Book

Shadow Stalker Part 1 Resized Small 72 DPI (1)This fast-paced and exhilarating adventure will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Auren longs for the freedom that comes with adulthood and wants to celebrate her coming of age with her friends on a distant island. When her strict foster-father, Kado, says no, she sneaks out, determined to prove she can take care of herself. But her forbidden excursion turns into a nightmare when the island is overrun by the Galvadi Empire forces. Worse, she learns that she is their main target.

Drevin, Emperor of the Galvadi people, is convinced she will enslave the people of the Serpent Isles and wants her dead.

When Auren learns she is a shadow stalker, someone who can travel between the physical and spirit worlds, and that she is the only one who can stop Drevin, it’s more than she can take. Her whole world is turning upside down and instead of adulthood bringing freedom, she is instead overwhelmed by a greater undertaking than any one person could possibly overcome. It seems hopeless.

However, if she can defeat Drevin, maybe she can have her old life back. More than that, the people she cares about would be safe to live their lives, and the people of the Serpent Isles would be free of the Galvadi forever.
