M.K.Adams is a new author within the fantasy genre. He works in politics by trade but writing is where the heart lies, and he’s been concocting worlds and stories since he was a child. He carried out his degree at the University of Kent, Canterbury, before moving into the private sector in London.
M.K. also has an unhealthy obsession with collecting Funko Pops and can often be found listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack when locked away working on his next novel. An avid reader of fantasy and all its sub-genres, M.K. is always on the lookout for the next great story.
Able to find inspiration in the smallest of details he is a firm believer that creating new worlds from scratch is one of the most fulfilling past-times. That belief also led him to the world of Dungeons and Dragons, a hobby that he believes perfectly compliments the creative outpouring of working on a new fantasy novel.
His favourite author is J.R.R.Tolkien, and he found great inspiration when he visited Tolkien’s hometown (and local pub!) in Oxford.

The Underworld Saga Blog Tour

Greetings guys and gals. Welcome to another Friday. I got a special treat in store for you all. Today I’m featuring Eva Pohler’s series, The Underworld Saga. It is a YA Paranormal Romance that looks awesome. I think I’m going to get in on this one. Hope you enjoy and gift it some thought it would be an awesome series to start this weekend :).

Thanatos
The Underworld Saga Book 1
by Eva Pohler
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Dive into a world in which the ancient gods of Greece are real.
Fifteen-year-old Therese watches her parents die. While in a coma, she meets the twin sons of Hades—Hypnos (the god of sleep) and Thanatos (the god of death). She thinks she’s manipulating a dream, not kissing the god of death and totally rocking his world.
Than makes a deal with Hades and goes as a mortal to the Upperworld to try and win Therese’s heart, but not all the gods are happy. Some give her gifts. Others try to kill her.
The deal requires Therese to avenge the death of her parents. With the help of Than’s fierce and exotic sisters, the Furies, she finds herself in an arena face to face with the murderer, and only one will survive.

Challenge of Hades
The Underworld Saga Book 2
Thanatos and Therese’s love story continues in the second book of this epic young adult series by USA Today bestselling author Eva Pohler.
Ten agonizing months have gone by since Therese faced off against her parents’ murderer at Mount Olympus, and she suspects Thanatos’s absence is meant to send her a message: go on with your life. She tries to return Pete’s affections even though her heart aches for the god of death. Then she becomes infuriated with Than when he says that he’s “been busy.”
In cahoots with her new friend, who’s gotten in with the Demon Druggies at school, Therese takes a drug that simulates a near-death experience, planning to tell Than off so she can have closure and move on, but things go very, very wrong.
Eventually she learns that Than has been busy searching for a way to make her a god, and he’s found it, but it requires her to complete a set of impossible challenges designed by Hades, who hopes to see her fail.
A New Goddess
The Underworld Saga Book 3
Death is not the worst fate for a goddess.
The Olympians don’t tolerate oath-breakers.
Therese may have finally succeeded in becoming a goddess, but if she wants to remain one, she’ll have to discover her unique purpose and make some allies among the gods. Artemis sends her on a seemingly impossible quest across the world, while Than searches for a way to appease Ares. To make matters worse, Therese’s unborn baby sister’s life depends on the outcome of her quest.
Can Than and Therese finally live the life they’ve dreamed of? Or do the gods have other plans for them?
The House of Hades
The Underworld Saga Book 4
Just when things were looking up for Than and Therese, everything crumbles.
Eighteen-year-old Therese Mills has second thoughts about marrying Thanatos when she learns that no god has ever been faithful to his wife. But before she can move out of Than’s rooms and into Hecate’s, the Underworld is attacked, she and her friends are crushed, the souls are unleashed, and a malevolent goddess threatens to unhinge Mount Olympus.
Hypnos has just made a deal with Hades to have his turn in the Upperworld, but before he can tempt Jen with a kiss, he’s called back to rebind the souls and defend the House of Hades, and he unwittingly puts Jen and her family in harm’s way.
Can Hip, Than, and Therese save the living and the dead?
The Athena Alliance
The Underworld Saga Book 5
She never thought her wedding day would be like this.
When Zeus invites Therese and Thanatos to a party on Mount Olympus in their honor, they and the other gods who have formed the Athena Alliance are immediately suspicious of a trap. They fear Zeus has learned of their desire to free Metis and Cybele and to stand up for all the women he has wronged.
Although Therese recruits Dione, Amphitrite, and others to the Alliance, Pete has unwittingly sabotaged their plans by revealing to Zeus the prophecy from the ghost of Mr. Holt. And now, the day that might have been the most wonderful day of Therese’s life (her wedding day) will be wrought with conflict where someone close to her is fated to die.
Can Therese and the other gods in the Alliance bind the almighty Zeus and restore justice and true democracy among the Olympians? Or will Zeus succeed in swallowing Therese and separating her from Thanatos for all eternity?
Hades’s Promise
The Underworld Saga Book 6
Therese never expected to find herself in Circe’s battlefield again, and this time she fights for things more important than her life.
Before Therese and Thanatos can come to terms with the uncertain future of their unborn twins, Poseidon is attacked and both his wife and trident are stolen.
Therese is forced to deliver her babies in the midst of an all-out war with enemies more powerful than the Olympians.
Hypnos
The Underworld Saga Book 7
Therese doesn’t like being stuck on the sidelines, especially when the entire pantheon is in trouble.
Hypnos and Jen aren’t married long when they realize something’s missing: they both want to have a child, especially when they see how happy Therese and Than are with their twins. But the creation of new gods is against the rules, and they aren’t willing to give up their immortality.
Hypnos goes to Mount Olympus to offer Zeus a deal. He’ll make it his mission to find out the source of the recent attacks on Gaia–horrible earthquakes that have already released two monsters from the Titan Pit–if Zeus will agree to let him and Jen have one immortal child.
Because the attacks are getting humans killed and none of the other gods have been able to discover a lead, Zeus, in his desperation, agrees. But this new quest just might get Hypnos swallowed and trapped for all eternity, and there seems to be nothing Therese and Than can do to stop it.
Hunting Prometheus
The Underworld Saga Book 8
Hermie and Hestie never asked to be demigods.
Unlike others of their kind, they aren’t interested in going on quests and being the center of a world-changing prophecy. But when Zeus learns of Apollo’s vision–of the twins finding Prometheus, Zeus’s number one enemy–the hunt for Prometheus begins.
Zeus and his allies want to bind Prometheus and to kill the twins before their threat of a revolution becomes a possibility. If Hermie and Hestie don’t find the Titan first, they have no chance of fulfilling their destiny or of surviving Zeus’s threat against them.
Storming Olympus
The Underworld Saga Book 9
The rebellion led by Hades prepares to storm Mount Olympus.
But their every move is sabotaged. Morpheus is torn between his allegiance to his Underworld family and the oath he swore to Zeus under duress. Forced to play both sides, Morpheus sees no hope for the rebellion.
Hermie and Hestie share Morpheus’s despair. Although Poros turned them into gods, the transformation has only heightened Hermie’s debilitating fears. And even Hestie’s fierce determination isn’t enough to overcome her trust issues.
As the gods square off, how can one identify the friend from the foe?
Read the surprising conclusion to USA Today bestselling author Eva Pohler’s The Underworld Saga.
Persephone
An Underworld Saga Prequel

Unrest brews among gods and mortals alike when Hades makes a deal with the Fates to end his loneliness in the Underworld.
But when Persephone proposes to conspire with him in a plot against Demeter, things get out of hand.
Find out the truth of how Hades and Persephone met and fell in love and the impact it had on the rest of the pantheon in the throes of the Trojan War. Learn how their children–Hypnos, Thanatos, Megaera, Tisiphone, Alecto, and Melinoe–came into being. Discover why they were assigned their respective duties as Sleep, Death, the Furies, and the goddess of ghosts. Find out the real reason why the Olympians possessed such profound disdain for these Underworld gods.
This prequel to The Underworld Saga is more than a retelling of the Persephone myth. Many more of the ancient myths are woven together to reveal the conflict, tension, and relationships among the gods in one of the most beloved pantheons in human history.
Persephone can be read before or after The Underworld Saga, but might be enjoyed best at the end.
Charon’s Quest
An Underworld Saga Novel
The ferryman of the dead is forced to leave the life he’s always known.
Apollo has had a vision: as the life of each soul flashes before Charon’s eyes, the ferryman ages like an old man. Charon needs to experience his own adventures to become youthful again, or he will soon die. The last thing Charon expects is to fall in love with a mortal woman—someone he can’t take with him when he returns. Charon must decide whether to abandon the love of his life or his duties. While Charon’s Quest shares the world of The Underworld Saga (a bestselling paranormal romance/urban fantasy series), it can be read before or after or anytime in between the rest of the books in the saga.

The Silver Fae Series Blog Tour

Happy Friday! I hope you have great plans for this weekend. If you are in the market for a knew series to read, you are in luck. I am a tour host for K.B. Anne’s blog tour featuring her Silver Fae Series. The books sound interesting and make me want to dip my head into them. Hopefully you will take a look at these books and you might even fall in love with them. I absolutely love the covers.

Throne of Silver
The Silver Fae Book 1
by K.B. Anne
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy
Meet Starr Bishop, the girl next door. Well, if the girl next door can deliver a dropkick to the throat and is possibly supernatural.
A secret organization wants me as an assassin. Me, kill someone? No way. The General also hints that I’m a superior being—whatever the hell that means. But it might explain the strange flickering thing that’s been happening to me lately.
And then there’s Christian, the goth-loner who casts disdainful glares in my direction like it’s his day job. When I go missing, he goes all superhero and finds me. And what’s with his eyes changing shape when he doesn’t think I’m looking at him?
Now there’s this crazy-ass chemistry between us, but I must deny my feelings. Christian is a complication, and my life is complicated enough. If I give in, I could put both of our lives at risk, and I’ve already lost two friends because of the Organization.
But when Christian goes missing, I follow him into a world of deception, lies, and secret realms. No worries. I’ve got this. After all, the General wanted me as an assassin. If I can learn to tap into my true nature, I can kick the Organization’s ass.
The trouble is, the Organization will stop at nothing to pick up their top recruit. Will I figure out what superior being I am before it’s too late?
If you like Linsey Hall, CN Crawford, Chandelle LeVaun, Leia Stone, Michelle Maddow, McKenzie Hunter, and Jaymin Eve, you’ll love the highly addictive Silver Fae series.
Silver Fae Hunter
The Silver Fae Book 2
Fae aren’t real, right? Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.  But when my grandparents locked me in the library, thanks for that by the way, I remembered things from my childhood, back when my dad was still alive. Things like silver thrones, pointed ears, and fangs.  Christian and I knew we couldn’t fight the Organization on our own. We needed help. Di, a mutual friend and anti-everything is a no-brainer, plus her taser will come in handy. Frank, my absolute best friend will put his life on the line for me. Ben and Coda, not to be outdone by also swore their allegiance. Christian’s the only hold out. He knows what the Organization is capable of and has the beaten body to prove it, but when I want something, I usually get it.  And now, though I keep denying my “other” nature, every time I get angry, each time I feel too much, the flickering happens. My Fae side wants to break out. Will Christian, Frank, Di, and the rest of the team accept me when they find out what I am? Life becomes tense on the Qualla Boundary, sparks fly, and the Organization is about to smash in our door. Inspired by the Eastern Band of Cherokee legends, bestselling author KB Anne weaves a stunning, high-stakes tale of alliances and deceptions, characters who aren’t what they seem, and secrets that could change everything in the urban fantasy Silver Fae trilogy. Check out the new series for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Marie Lu, Shannon Mayer, Linsey Hall, Leia Stone, Michelle Maddow, McKenzie Hunter, Jaymin Eve, and CN Crawford.
Heir of Wings and Shadows
The Silver Fae Book 3
Betrayal cuts deep. A Starr gone. A team betrayed.  You never know who your true friends are until a gun’s pointed at you. One will take a bullet, and the other will pull the trigger. I learned that lesson the hard way.  When the Organization decided they wanted me as an assassin, life took a dive in the deep end. One, I learned I’m a Silverlain and evidently, a faerie princess. Two, there was a secret cult run by Jerry White but somehow related to the Organization and my grandparents who all wanted me as their own personal…I don’t know what. And three, Christian, well Christian betrayed me. I trusted him, believed in him, loved him, and he tossed that love in the garbage and aligned himself with Sami and Jovie instead. Did I mention they’re still alive and want me dead? You’d think I’d sleep easier at night, but not so much. Christian’s betrayal hurt me. I will never give my heart away to anyone ever again, and since I’m jailed by the Organization, I will become the Fae assassin they want me to be. But Treadwell better watch his throat because if I get close to him, I will rip it out myself. Sami is one of my guards. Talk about unfortunate circumstances.. But don’t worry, I’ll create my own team, albeit I won’t be able to trust any of them, but on the plus side, I’ll get my revenge. After all, I am the Heir of Wings and Shadow.
Silver Shift
A Silver Fae Novella
A part-Cherokee goth loner. A Peroxide Barbie. What possibly could they have in common?
Turns out a whole lot more than crazy-ass chemistry–or is it electricity?
Christian Evergood tries everything to ignore the girl who reminds him of his past, but when Starr goes missing, he must find her. He’ll hide his true nature from her for as long as he can, but eventually he’ll need to tell her. He’ll use stories of his people to lay the groundwork for revealing his secret, but the Organization has other plans for him.
Inspired by the Eastern Band of Cherokee legends, bestselling author KB Anne weaves a stunning, high-stakes tale of alliances and deceptions, characters who aren’t what they seem, and secrets that could change everything in the urban fantasy Silver Fae trilogy. Silver Shift, A Silver Fae Novella, can be read as a prequel, book 1.5, or a standalone.
KB once smashed into a tree while skiing. The accident led to a concussion, a cracked sternum, temporary notoriety as a sixth grader returned from the dead, and the realization that fictionalized accounts are way more interesting than just slipping on the ice.

A Powerful Rivalry (Excerpt)

By: K.M. Jenkins

Serena jumped when a twig snapped to the left of her, and she turned to look for the source of the noise. Her eyes grew wide as a white stag with silver antlers stepped forth from the nearby trees. He stood a head taller, with bright blue eyes that looked deep into her soul. Serena took a deep breath, her heart racing as the stag came near. Intelligence shone back at her from behind his eyes. He is so magnificent.

“You aren’t bad yourself,” echoed a male voice inside her head.

Serena’s mouth dropped open in surprise. She knew the creatures within the forest were magical beasts. It was just hard to believe they were capable of human interaction, or in his case, mind speech. Her hand reached out to his snout and stroked his delicate flesh. He tipped his head forward. “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you.”

“I’m not afraid, just stunned. You are such a gorgeous creature.”

“Thank you. I’ll try not to let it go to my head.”

Serena giggled as her hand pressed firmly against his snout. His coat was silky to the touch and felt like butter as her fingers slipped up towards his mane. She walked alongside him, her hands trailing along his muscular neck and onto his shoulders. His back had an arch that would allow someone to ride him if the need arose. Her eyes went to his short tail which he flicked about. It had golden spots on it.

“You are so unique. I have never seen a creature like you before.”

“I highly doubt you would, miss. My kind only lives within the Forest of Ferrês. We don’t like the outside world.”

“That’s a shame. I know a wonderful place where they would love to have you among their kind.”

His head turned to get a better look at her. He blew hot air from his nostrils onto her face. She laughed as she straightened her hair.

“Where exactly would that be?”

“Elërya, the city of mages. There are dozens of magical creatures that reside within the mountain peaks and the forestland around that magical city. You would be a welcome guest among them.”

His eyes sparkled with interest.

“Perhaps one day. But till then, I’m content to stay here.”

The 13: Tales of Macabre Book Review

Stephanie Ayers doesn’t disappoint with book two in her, The 13 series. The 13: Tales of Macabre opens with an epic story of love and betrayal pulling you in. As with Tales of Illusory you will find a story to spark your inner horror fancies around this most wonderful time of year. No I’m not talking about the horrid Christmas season, I’m talking about the best holiday ever! Halloween.

If you don’t know me or the fact that I am the proud mother of two twin 1 year-old boys then you will understand how epic this book is to me. I started my morning sitting down to just read one story, before the monsters woke up for breakfast. The Tales of Macabre had me so captivated I sat down between screaming fits and read to the end within a two hour period.

Her beautifully crafted stories and technique with creating such a master piece has inspired the writer in me. I now am planning to do my own horror story collection for next year and here’s hoping Stephanie is too. Looking forward to book 3 Stephanie so keep them coming.

The 13: Tales of Illusory Book Review

Several decades have passed since the last time I sat down to read a horror genre book. I am an avid fantasy lover with a mixed love for vampires, werewolves and so much more. Stephanie Ayers’ The 13: Tales of Illusory was a refreshing read. It sparked my love for horror all over again. Each story leaves its own impression and keeps you turning the page making you wonder “what’s next?”

I would have to say my top two favorite stories were “Tears of a Sinner” and “What the Sign Saw”. “Tears of a Sinner” gave me the wonder of a vampire tale filled with romance and death. When I finished this story, I wished it was a full-length book instead, it left me screaming for more. But, the wonder didn’t end there for I found another story that was longer and fulfilled the hunger I needed fed.

“What the Sign Saw” kept me captivated till the end making me want to turn the page. This story has turns and twists keeping you on your toes. The ending is brutal but I won’t spoil it for you. This story had me so captivated my poor fiancé tried to ask me something during this story and I bit his head off. Told him “don’t interrupt me I’m getting to the good part!” Definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves suspense, horror and a mix of death with romance.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to any avid horror loving readers. If you are looking for something fun, creepy, suspenseful and steamy then buy this book. Stephanie did such an awesome job with this story collection I already pre-order book 2 The 13: Tales of Macabre, scheduled for release this Friday, October 26, 2018. Keep your eyes peeled for book 2’s review coming Friday. And, Stephanie loved your book and look forward to reading all your other creepy fantastical reads.

Let’s have some fun and get this party started. 🙂

THE INTERVIEW!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you decided to become a writer?
I bleed ink. I know you’ve heard that before, but it’s true. If I’m not writing, I’m helping someone else who is writing. I love the author community, all of it, traditionally published or indie. I didn’t decide to become a writer until 2010 when I wrote the first word to my new blog, The Scoop on Poop. It was a humorous look at my daily living, which then belonged to 4 children, 2 of whom I inherited by marriage and were raised to hate me. Blogging introduced me to some writing circles, and that got me writing fiction regularly again. You see, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, I discovered my love of writing (and my knack for it) with my first assignment based on a dancing peanut. I entertained ideas as a child about being the next Stephen King, but I also wanted to be an actress, a singer… anything that made me famous. My love of writing never quit though, and now I call myself a full time author. I also do content writing on the side to help pad the empty pockets us authors always seem to have.

What genres do you write?
While most of my published writing has taken a turn towards horror, I consider myself a speculative fiction author. I just made my debut into the world of fantasy with my short story titled Wings, a stand alone from the upcoming Destiny Defined series.

Where are you from? Does your area have a good writing community? Tell us about it.
I was born and raised in Virginia, outside of DC. The area I lived in had a growing writing community with some workshops and writing groups gathering at the local library branches, and the libraries offering author spotlights and book signings. The first local book fair happened two years ago. When I moved to Ohio this year, I noticed a huge difference. While I haven’t sought out writing groups, I have already joined in a local book fair with 3 more scheduled for this year. There’s a popular book store in Columbus that will sell my books and is known for regular author appearances. There seems to be much more for an author here in Ohio than there is in Virginia.

What do you do besides being a writer? Do you have a day job? Tell us a bit about this or hobbies you enjoy.
When I’m not writing, I’m promoting other authors, playing around in Photoshop, watching my son play football (go Titans!), or binge watching a beloved TV show. On the weekends, my husband and I can usually be found haunting flea markets and antique stores.

How often do you write? Do you have a page/word count? Do you set goals for yourself? Tell us a bit about your writing and how you keep things going.
After two years of focusing on the author community and other authors, I have to find my mojo again. I haven’t set word count goals. I’ve set “must get this book ready” deadlines instead and then stress myself out meeting them. Apparently I work best under pressure. I always thought that silence was the best way for me to focus and write, especially as an almost deaf writer, but recently discovered that the right soundtrack makes for really good writing and big word counts too.

How long does it take you to write a novel?
Well… Elven Games began in 2012. It still needs an ending. I have only completed one novel during NaNoWriMo. Destiny United sits at 54k words and is in need of serious revision. On the other hand, because I spent a lot of time answering writing prompts, I have folders full of short stories. Putting together a story collection can be done in 2 weeks to 30 days. Not sure that really answers the question. I’m cursed by procrastination and easily distracted.

What are your goals as an author? Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years? I don’t think that far ahead. Its a daily process for me, just getting to the next month with whatever plans I have going on. Right now, I have two live events in October, this book blog tour for the release of one book, while celebrating the first book birthday of another. November is nice and quiet, but December has high hopes for the release of Elven Games and another book fair. Next year, I already have 4 events lined up, and plans to publish at least 2 more books.

What is the biggest obstacle you face as an author and what do you do to overcome it?
Procrastination is my biggest obstacle, closely followed by marketing. The first one I don’t have a solution to yet, but the second one I’m working on. No time like the present to try marketing tips.

What is the best writing advice you’ve ever received? Who was it from?
The best advice I ever received was to set myself up with the beginning to the next scene before I walk away from the story. This makes it so much easier for me to begin the next day. I don’t remember who told me that, but it stuck with me.

What is the worst writing advice you’ve ever received?
You have to grow lizard skin. No you don’t. Criticism can be given in a manner that is doesn’t have to sting so bad you need lizard skin to receive it. Everyone needs negative criticism to grow. It’s just all in the delivery.

What are you working on now? Do you have any upcoming releases we should watch for?
My newest release is October 26, the second collection of horror stories focused on the supernatural and paranormal. I’m working on Elven Games and having it released in December or January, and slowly inking away at that huge unfinished pile I have. I have started planning the 3rd collection for Halloween 2019 as well.

What are your current WIPs about?
They are fantasy. Tribba runs a B&B for her dwarven village. Her customers are going to the fancier elven castle next door instead. She challenges them to the Elven Games, in hopes to get rid of them once and for all.

Catching Dragons is the conclusion of Edgar’s story, the human who champions Tribba for her first two games. He must defeat the dragon queen Soren and save his kingdom.

The Destiny Defined trilogy follows River’s journey to collect five magical relics, connect them with their matching gemstones, then destroy them before Rtharo gains all his strength and takes them. It;s an epic fantasy series that happens in the world of Savania across several generations.

What do you have going on in the next 6 months? Can provide awesome author events, book releases, etc.
October 21 I’ll be doing an author meet and greet and signing at The Book Loft of German Village in Columbus.

In December, I have a local book fair where I’ll be signing books. I also hope to release Elven Games in late December or early January.

In late March, I’ll be in Lexington, KY for the Lexington Legendary Book Bash, and in April I’ll be at the Dayton Book Fair in Ohio. That’s all I have lined up for the next 6 months currently but that could change as I am always looking for new places to show my face.

Do you have any advice for other authors?
I do. I always like to share the whole start the next scene bit, but also, don’t be intimated by the blank page. It only takes one letter, one word to defeat it.

Do you have anything specific you’d like to say to your readers?
Without my readers, my stories wouldn’t be alive. Thank you for breathing life into my stories and making them real.

This interview is done and we have so much more to enjoy with this feature. In a few you will get a special sneak peek into Stephanie’s WIP Elven Games. This sneak peek will be unedited since it hasn’t begun its editing journey just yet. But, here is another fun excerpt for you from Stephanie’s up coming release, The 13: Tales of Macabre.

The 13 Macabre_ Never Never

WIP SNEAK PEEK: ELVEN GAMES

“What are you doing?” Edgar asked.
“Strange things have been afoot, so I’m making you a protection elixir.” Tribba said, the words rolling off her tongue distractedly.
“You do all this yet you need me to champion you?” Edgar said. His voice held a twinge of accusation. Perhaps he had strange dreams, too.
“Yes. See this book?” Tribba picked it up and waved it in front of him. It was the same book they used to banish the werewolves.
Edgar nodded.
“If I didn’t have this book, I wouldn’t…no, I couldn’t…be doing this now. I am not a magical dwarf. Every spell I’ve tried to concoct from imagination has backfired drastically. Hence I married a greeter dwarf and became a greeter myself.”
Edgar’s eyes widened at Tribba’s revelation. Suddenly, it became clear how Tribba understood him so well. She, too, had felt an embarrassment to her people. He walked around the kitchen and gathered both of her hands in his. When she turned to him, he looked straight into her eyes.
“Until this moment, I haven’t understood why you chose me and why you had so much faith in me. Thank you for sharing that with me. I won’t dwell on the past anymore and will embrace this challenge with all of my being. If you can believe in me, so can I.” His chest puffed out as he finished. “I am your champion and I will win.”
Tribba smiled in response to Edgar’s words. She had waited weeks to hear confidence in his voice. The timing was perfect as the games were scheduled to begin in a fortnight. She thought back briefly over the boy who had wandered to her front door and considered the man he had become almost overnight. Whether he won or lost no longer mattered. She knew she had played an important role in the future, whatever that may be. She had strengthened a man she knew would matter someday. She had instilled self worth in someone who would save the world someday. If that was her legacy to this life, she would die a complete, happy woman.
“Take your tunic off and turn around, Edgar. You mustn’t see what I am doing.
Edgar did as instructed, turning his back to her. She dipped her hands into the cauldron and let the liquid within cover her hands. She waved them in the air, faster than the eye could see. When she stepped away, the liquid soaked through Edgar’s tunic and dripped onto his boots.
Edgar turned around, a look of curiosity and apprehension on his face. “What did you do, Tribba? I suddenly feel…” He chewed his lower lip as he searched for the words, “…infallible, undefeatable, and incredibly brave. I feel as if I could slay a dozen dragons with my bare hands!”
Tribba merely smiled in response. “It’s time for breakfast. Let’s eat,” she said, skirting around his question with ease.
