Projects, a New Job, and Hassles

September just started and I am going crazy with trying to keep up with everything. To help make things even worse, I start a part-time job yesterday. The job is pretty easy to do, but the training is so boring. I wanted to kill myself yesterday—the clock just moved so slow. Either than that it was nice to get away from the screaming kids for a few hours. I plan to only work short hours during the week and every other weekend. Still that takes a lot of time away from design projects and my writing.

Things have been going slowly on the writing front. I started writing the final story in my Tales of Ferrês series. I got about 1k into it then found myself stuck for over two weeks. Nothing I did made me want to finish it. So, the day before yesterday I decided to re-write the entire story from scratch. This seemed to do the trick because I could make some headway into it finally. I am hoping if time permits I will complete half of it tomorrow since I have the day off. But, that depends on if the boys let me work on the computer or not. They have been getting pretty naughty lately, so that leaves that up in the air.

If I don’t get the story to where I want it tomorrow I gave myself two weeks to write it. Then will come the fun part—editing. Right now my editor is in her busy time with her other job. So, it will be a work in process to get this one done on time. I am thinking of having it release at the end of October. Then release the bundle book in November. I will be glad when this project is done and out of the way. I am excited about getting started on my other books for next year.

**Cough…Cough** Changing the subject, I have been working on a 30 step process to writing a novel, created by Renee Scattergood. It is taking longer than I thought to get through all the steps so I can get to the writing part. I did this process with my WIP, ‘Gargoyle Sighted’. This is the book I have been releasing by the chapter each month to my Dragon Ryder VIP Members. Since this process is changing a lot, this month I will miss the deadline and double up in November. I plan to write this entire series before I start on my next book series. Hoping this process works to kick out series faster.

If you can’t tell my month will be busy with the addition of having a normal day job. So wish me luck and hopefully next month I will have good news for everyone on my writing projects.

Till next time.

Flipped, Flopped, and a New Path

Okay this year needs to slow down. It seems like every time I turn around it’s a new month. How am I supposed to get anything done with time going by so fast? Let alone finish my goals for each month. But, anyway enough whining around your probably wondering what I have been up too?

This last month I decided once again to change my writing schedule and release dates around. Next year I won’t have as many book series starting up like I originally planned. I decided to focus on the main ones and get those out along with a few minor projects in the mix.

What series will I be working on?

The main series I will start publishing in the new year will be my Demonic Embrace series. I still plan to release the prequel book, Path to Redemption sometime this late winter. Then I plan to work on this series for the next year and a half. Along with this project I will work on my Vortex Series. This series won’t get released till after I release the final chapter to my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers members. They get a new chapter each month so book 1 will come out after I release the last chapter to them. I am thinking book 1 should be out in 2021 by the latest. If it takes too long, I will release over one chapter at a time to my members.

Along with these projects I still plan to do my horror story collection and might throw in another short story collection from the world of Tarzinëa. This will depend a lot on my time management skills. I do know one thing I will release the stories together in book format next time around. Tales of Ferrês is taking far too long to get out, and it is pricey doing a cover for each individual story.

Last month I don’t remember if I told you I took part in Camp NaNoWriMo. My goal was supposed to be 20k, I ended up only around 5k. I really did a bad job this last month hitting my goals. The boys and their 2-year-old mood swings were a major obstacle. I had to figure out ways to write, and it wasn’t working all too well. I’m hoping to get back on track this next month. I have several projects I need to get done before the end of August and I hope I can get them done.

What are your goals for August? What kind of obstacles do you think you’ll face in getting them done? I know I have plenty that come to my mind just thinking about it. I hope everyone has a wonderful August. I’ll let you know what is new or accomplished next month.

Half the year is gone…

Hard to believe the 4th of July was just yesterday. I spent the day with the kids over at my sister’s house. Her and her husband were doing an all day barbecue for the family and some close friends. The boys got to jump in the kitty pool and scream their heads off with my youngest niece, Hope. They had a blast. I would have to say my favorite part about the day, as everyone would expect, were the fireworks. It is always fun looking up into the sky and watching the lights dance among the stars. What did you do for the 4th? Do you even celebrate this wonderful holiday? Share your comments below. Now for my writing update. I finished Bonds of Betrayal and got the promotional page up on Facebook for release day. You can check it out here. I have a large line-up of YA, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction authors to do takeovers all day long. They will talk about their own books and there will most likely have giveaways for free books and swag. Check out the page here. Besides Bonds of Betrayal, I finished writing the next story, A Forbidden Friendship. I got that sent over to my editor Allison just last week. When I wasn’t working on the Tales of Ferrês series, I was writing in my Vortex Series book, Gargoyle Sighted. I managed to get another two chapters written and sent over to Allison so that is a good headway to start. I was looking back at my writing the last few months and can’t believe I wrote over 30k. It’s hard to believe what you can accomplish when you set your mind to something.

GOALS FOR JULY

It time for the second Camp NaNoWriMo of the year. Once again I have a 20k word goal to reach before the final day of the month. What am I going to work on? The first project is to write, A Powerful Rivalry, story #10 in my Tales of Ferrês series. Then I plan to write a few more chapters probably around 2 or 3 in Gargoyle Sighted. After that the plan is to work on the bonus story for the bundle book and do rewrites in several of my published Tales of Ferrês stories. The last project is to write several blog posts for you all to enjoy over the next several months. Sounds like a lot to work on but it will be doable. Wish me luck and look forward to seeing you next month. ~K.M.

1 Down-Way More to Go!

I can’t believe May is gone already. Actually, if I am thinking about it I was saying the same thing about April. This year is going by so fast and I have so many projects in the works. I will do a breakdown here soon. But, first I want to share what I accomplished this month.

Back at the beginning of the year I made a goal to write 20k a month. Then decided that was still too steep for me so I adjusted it to 10k a month. So far, I have only accomplished it in April thanks to Camp NaNo. Now I am happy to say I can add May to my list of months where I completed my goal. My word count for May is over 12k. I was hoping to hit 15k, but family and design projects got in the way. I am just extremely ecstatic about accomplishing it for this month and can’t wait to see if I can do it again in June. I will keep you updated.

As for my projects I finally put the final touches on Bonds of Betrayal. I have shipped it off to my editor and now I just sit back and wait. I finished chapter 3 in my Vortex Book and sent that out to all my members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List. Now I have to work on getting chapter 4 done for June 25th. After I accomplish that project I plan to work on A Forbidden Friendship. The 9th installment into my Tales of Ferrês series. Right now that is what my month of June has for projects. Now lets talk about what I have planned for after the Tales of Ferrês is complete.

At the beginning of 2020 I plan to release book-length works. The first planned is my Path to Redemption book. It is a prequel to my Demonic Embrace series. Then I will release Cyber Fated a PNR book geared towards the New Adult crowd. After that I plan to release my first collection of horror stories around Halloween. Finally, my last project of the year will release the first book in my Legacy of the Silver Ryder series, Tarzinëa: Rise of the Varrin. If that isn’t enough I plan to write in an anthology as well.

My writing schedule is about to blow up big time. I plan to keep everyone updated and don’t forget to check in when I do my Worlds Beyond feature here on my blog. In this monthly feature I plan to do showcases from the worlds I am creating.

Hopefully, I am not biting off more than I can chew but here is too trying. Till next month I hope you all have a wonderful June.

The Journey so Far…

I can’t believe it is May already. It has been a crazy month since the last time I updated you all on my WIPs. Last month I took part in Camp NaNaWriMo. I set myself the goal of 20k. I didn’t finish the full 20k; I did managed to get over 18k. Overall, I thought I did good from going to writing barely over 5k a month to 18k.

My goal is to continue the writing throughout each month. Right now my goal is to do a minimum of 10k each month. I would like to work up to 20k every month, which would make my goals for next year a reality.

Now to update you on my WIPs. The first one I worked on in June was Bonds of Betrayal. The next installment in my Tales of Ferrês series. I have about 1k done in this story and way behind schedule with completing it. Hoping to get it done this month to get back on schedule. Then once this story is done then I can move onto story #8, A Forbidden Friendship. I’m hoping to get this series done before fall so wish me luck.

The next WIP I started on is my Vortex Series. The first book is being written by chapter, then released to my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List members. Right now I am halfway through chapter 3 with it scheduled to release to my members May 25th. If you haven’t gotten in on this project yet, then don’t worry. I keep a directory of all the chapters here on my website and link to it in my mail outs. That is the only place you will find the link I am afraid. So, if you want to join Cassie on her journey you will have to sign up like everyone else. The nice thing though is if you are still a member when the book gets completed and released in ebook and print you will get a free copy. So, I am not completely a big meanie bo-beanie.

This next announcement is about my projects for next year. Once I finish writing the Tales of Ferrês series, this is how things will go. I plan to release four books next year if it kills me. I don’t know if I will make the actual release dates I scheduled for, but I will do my best to meet them.

My releases for next year are: Path to Redemption (January Release), Cyber Fated (May Release), Horror Collection Book (Untitled – October Release) and Rise of the Varrin (December Release). I’ll keep you updated on these projects and hopefully I can keep things going. The next obstacle will be to pay for the editing for all these books.

Till next month I hope everyone is having an awesome spring. I am enjoying the times at the park with the kids and taking walks without freezing my butt off.

What’s to Come…

It has been a few crazy weeks for this girl. Between the design projects, organizing, getting ready for four takeover events and dealing with the kids, it has been hectic. This next month I plan to make changes and get back to writing on my blog. Right now with all the crazy going on I will publish two posts a month.

The first post will feature a normal update with life, writing and my design work. This post will also contain information about my works in progress. I will talk about where I am at in the project, provide teasers, or discuss situations I am struggling with. It will depend a lot on what is going on with that project when writing my post.

The second post each month will be different. I am calling this feature, Worlds Beyond. What is this all about? Well, it is a fun way for me to introduce you to my works in progress. I will discuss anything and everything about the world I am creating. There could be character features, where the character comes in and talks to you. Another, fun post is the world building features. I will do break downs about the world and the different places within it. Creatures will be another fun feature that will get mixed into the works. Overall, the Worlds Beyond feature is to showcase the worlds and beings within it to you my readers. You will have to wait and see what I have in store for you.

Now that you know my blog schedule I plan to spend the next bit talking about my works in progress. Right now I am working hard on two projects. The first is my Tales of Ferrês series. I just released story #7 as of March 31st. This means I have four more stories to write, edit and complete to finish the series. Once these stories are done and released, I then will write another story as a bonus to include in the bundle book. I am hoping to have this project completed before August.

My other project is my Vortex Series: Book 1 (doesn’t have a title yet). On March 25th I released the first chapter to the members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List. What do you mean released a chapter? Well, I decided with this project that I would release it in a rough form with basic edits to my members. They then will get to see the story unfold over the next several months chapter by chapter. Once this project is completed I plan to do a comprehensive edit, send it out to betas and complete it. As I dot the I’s and cross the T’s, I will then put the final touches on this project and release it to the public. All members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List at time of publication will get a free e-copy. Now comes the question you have been waiting for. Are you a member? If not, you can become a member of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List by clicking the image below.
