Today I am featuring a favorite author of mine and her book, Heir of Dragmoore. Not only is the book awesome check out the cover below. It just takes my breath away. Well anyway Jennifer Ann Schlag is sharing a special excerpt with us today. Hope you enjoy.

Excerpt

Kip glides out onto a rock sitting in the water close to shore. Talen stops right before the water hits her shoes. Stares out at the sea, at Kip, at the sun making the water shine. It overwhelms her to the point that she starts crying. She can sense that someone is coming. She turns and sees Remy searching through the sand.
“Kip, come and stay on the land.”
Remy sits down on the sand while holding some shells. Talen joins him.
“I don’t want to appear rude. I am thankful that you are looking out for me. So thank you.”
“That tale the woman told us about; the brother and sister, the shell necklaces. It got me thinking.”
“About what?”
“About us.”
Talen shivers. And it’s not from the cold sea air.
“It doesn’t matter. Let’s find Deegus and be on our way.” Remy heads for the establishments.
Kip runs over to Talen and kicks sand up at her face. He buries his face in the sand.
What is wrong?
“I think I’ve hurt the prince’s feelings. I don’t want to be seen as a bad person. Oh, how I can’t wait to be free of all this and live with the Masters.”
Kip shakes the sand off him. If you live with the Masters, will we still be friends?
“Of course. Why would that change?”
Because the Masters are dangerous people. My father told me about them. My mother warned me to stay away from them.
“But I am bringing you with me to the Veiled Haven. To show them that I can speak to you and then they must come back with me to Dragmoore.”
What for? Your father is free. The king is dying. The proof you wanted doesn’t matter anymore. You want to go to the Veiled Haven because you want to feel as if you belong somewhere. You have a loving father, friends, and you have the prince who clearly likes you. And you have me, Talen. Please let that be enough. Don’t go to the Veiled Haven. It changes people.
“I must go there at least once. If you feel like I am in danger at any point, you tell me and I will leave. I promise.”

Book Review: Vampire Breed

The suspense of this series is killing me. I haven’t gone several days without reading at least a few chapters a day. I’ve been neglecting my writing to read these books. I am obsessed. But, our book review series must continue on as should my own writing. In a few words I will tell you about this book and my thoughts on it too. I hope you are enjoying this book review series.

The Review

Kiera is imprisoned. She doesn’t know where she is being held. Or, if her friends are even alive. Potter promised to come to her rescue, but where is he. Now hooked on the red stuff Kiera is an addict at the mercy of her captives.

She is out of her mind not knowing what is the truth or a fabrication the addiction has caused. All she knows is that a strange lycanthrope comes to her each night in her cell. Is he friend or foe Kiera doesn’t know? Realizing freedom can only come at her own hands she devises a plan for escape. Does she make it? You must read to find out.

This book in the series really showcases the loss of one’s will when addiction takes hold. It shows the struggle and harm it brings. Then tells of how the fight to remain clean is a burden that can kill. Tim O’Rourke takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that keeps you turning the page. The darkness in the series really takes hold in this book and perp-ells the series forward.

Question I had while reading this book:

Where the hell is Potter?

What happened to Luke?

Who is behind this brutal treatment?

And, who is this wolf that stalks Kiera at night?

Ranking: 5 out of 5 stars!

The Book

Excerpt

Finishing the braid, Niamh stared at herself in the mirror. She looked more like her mother every day. The freckles peppered across her nose hadn’t changed any in the last three years. Her hair had lightened some from all the time she’d spent out in the sun. It was closer to a fiery red than the crimson she had as a child. The rest of her body had filled out as she’d gotten older and taller.

She was now the same height as her mother had been; a solid five-foot-seven-inches.

That was where the similarities ended. Her legs, arms, and abdomen had more muscle than she ever recalled on her mother. Her father had been the one with all the muscle. It had been the physical labor he’d endured working in the pub. Not to mention the training he had gone through as a teenager.

It was the same training she’d received regularly over the last few years. Most days she spent at the cabin or at Ainsley’s desperately working to improve her physical prowess and control her powers. Nearly three years and she hardly felt as if she’d learned anything at all.

Probably a good thing she hadn’t found that black wolf yet.

She didn’t have to focus on that today. She had work at the pub this evening. Niamh inhaled a deep breath and eyed the reflection of the green t-shirt Rhea had elected for the employees to wear a couple of years ago. She hated it, but only because it made her emerald green eyes stand out more. If she could’ve changed her eye color, she would, except she didn’t want to distance herself from one of the few remaining links she had to her parents.

Niamh shook the thought from her head, grabbed her driver’s license off the dresser and tucked it into the back pocket of her jeans. She spun around on the ball of her boot and eyeballed the room. Even after all these years, she still hadn’t grown accustomed to the extravagance surrounding her most days. Di’Lacia, she couldn’t wait until she turned eighteen and could leave the house.

She extracted some cash from the top drawer of the antique nightstand beside her bed. She placed the cash in the back pocket of her jeans with her driver’s license and then snagged her purple helmet off the back of the door on her way out. She stepped into the hallway—

“Niamh, I was just coming to see ye,” Séamus said.

Shite. She hadn’t left fast enough. A good chunk of the time she usually escaped the house without crossing his path, but some days … there was no avoiding him. She plastered a smile to her mouth and turned around to face him. “I was just on ‘mai way to work. What can I do for ye?”

“I wanted to ensure ye made time for Briana this weekend. She’ll be here to work on your dress.”

“Dress?” She tilted her head to the side and pursed her lips. The question had popped out before she could stop it. If she had to be there for a fitting, it could only mean he was demanding her presence at some event he was hosting. This past year she’d been forced to play the part of his date on several occasions. Talk about a test of control.

“Dinnae tell me ye forgot about ‘mai birthday party next weekend.”

Sure she had. He was the furthest thing from her mind, unless it included getting away from him. Inwardly, she groaned. She hated dressing up and having to hang on his arm. It was like she was a prized fox he had to show off to his friends. Too bad she couldn’t say any of that to him. Instead, she had to pretend she was perfectly okay with it all and simply watch his aura carefully.

“Of course not. How could I forget?”

“That’s ‘mai good girl.” He caressed her cheek.

Niamh swallowed the bile that crawled up the back of her throat and her eyebrows pinched together. The sensation of his sausage fingers against her skin grossed her out. Never mind the disturbing idea of being his anything. His intentions had become quite clear over the last few months as the red in his aura intensified each passing day.

“I, uh, I need to go. Ye know how, uh, how Rhea hates tardiness.”

“Ye know how much I despise ye working there, especially with ye behind the bar now. All those men … I could send Rooney there to watch over ye.” Séamus stroked his chin.

Her eyes widened. Oh, hell no! She had already been subjected to living there in that house. She refused to let him take the little bit of freedom she had away.

“Ye know Rhea wouldn’t tolerate ‘em hanging out all evening. Plus, I’m capable of taking care of ‘mai self.”

Séamus brushed her cheek with the back of his hand. “While I’m sure ye can, I always protect what’s mine.”

Her nose wrinkled as she tensed and tightened the hold she had on her helmet. Don’t use your powers, she reminded herself. Yeah, he was a bad man, but he was still a normal. One she had to get away from, now. Slowly, Niamh stepped back.

“I have to go.”

As she turned away, he grabbed her wrist and squeezed. “Ye just remember who ye belong to.”

Niamh narrowed her eyes and grinded her jaw. There were other places she could go; she didn’t have to stay there. Screw her parents’ will. Screw the law. It might be the best thing for her if she told him right then and there she belonged to no man.

Except just past Séamus’s shoulder she caught a glimpse of the one and only reason she stayed: her brother. Quinlan paused outside his bedroom door, glanced in their direction and disappeared down the hallway away from them.

She hadn’t figured out yet what was wrong with him. And he was the only thing keeping her there. As soon as she knew what was wrong, she’d get them both out of that awful house. Niamh bit her tongue and returned her attention to Séamus. “I do. Now, I really do have to get to work.”

“All right, ye can go. We only have another year of this and then we make it all official.” He released his hold on her. With a wink, he walked off.

She shuddered at the thought of that man any closer to her than he had been. Not that she’d ever let him get that far. At least she knew his timeframe now. It just meant she had to figure out what was wrong with her brother and get them out of there—soon. Until then, she’d tolerate that disgusting, red-headed tool.

Wiping off the imprint Séamus left on her face, Niamh headed toward the front of the house and left.

Character Interview: Alabama Rain

Happy Friday everyone! Today I am featuring Alabama Rain from her book Alabama Rain. Lol, sounds like she is awesome if she gets her name on the cover. Well anyway today I am featuring her in a character interview. Who is the lucky author that wrote this awesome vampire book? That would be PNR author Lana Campbell. Stop by and check out this spectacular interview to see inside her main character.

The Interview

Who are you and what makes you great?

I’m Alabama Rain Holden and I’m an ex-drug dealer. Until a short while ago nothing made me great. I was forced by my feral vampire father to do despicable things and I hated myself and my life. Then I met a special person who showed me how to rise above my lot in life. He showed me unconditional love and taught me that God loves me unconditionally. Now what makes me great is the ability to forgive those who have hurt me and love them unconditionally through the power of God’s grace and love for me.

What kind of adventures have you had that stay with you till this day?

When I was a kid before my father lost his sanity and soul and my mother died, I had an amazing family. We traveled in an RV all over the country for my parents’ work. My father played in a band and got gigs in bars, casinos and farmers markets. My mother sold crystal jewelry at farmers markets and flea markets. My parents always managed to take time for me and my brother Gan. They homeschooled us and took us to hundreds of historical sites across the country. We learned history by viewing where it had happened, from battlefields to southern plantations, historical figures homes–you name it.

Do you have a love interest? If you do please tell us about him/her or why you don’t.

I do. His name is Nate Davenport. Like me, he’s a born vampire. His childhood was one of wealth and privilege filled with love too. He’s a Christian. A real one that lives the life and is loving and kind. There isn’t a judgmental bone in his body. He was able to see past the sick and twisted criminal life I led to the agony I felt for having to do it. He saw the true me and at the time, the wounded me. Instead of being disgusted by what I did to survive, he gave me help and hope for a future. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me and did I mention he’s gorgeous? I love him and I’m so happy he’s my life mate.

Tell us about your journey you are on and how it has helped you grow as a person.

I’m on a journey of self discovery. I lost twelve years of my youth living in darkness and fear because I was a drug dealer for my father. I missed out on college, dating, proms and all the things high school and college kids get to do. Now that I’m free and living a respectable life, I’m trying to see who I am as a person. I recently published my first novel, a parody of my life. It’s about a drug dealer and her brother, who also deals drugs, trying to get out of that life and find their happily ever after. The book is a best seller and I couldn’t be happier. My goal is to continue writing, while finding other talents to cultivate and nurture.

If you had one thing about yourself that you would want to change what would it be?

My past. I wish I could have been a normal girl that hadn’t had to fight to survive. I wish I could have taken ballet classes instead of martial arts that were necessary for me to learn to fend off thugs, drug dealers and scumbags. I wish I could have had a best friend growing up, but there was no room in my life for friends. I have one now though and that’s my life mate Nate. With his help I’m gaining back all the things I lost and I’m starting to put my past behind me.

Who is your ultimate enemy? Why?

I don’t have any enemies anymore. Once my ultimate enemy was my father. He had a mental disease called feralism, something vampires who lose their life mates are prone to suffering. He made my life a living hell during the dark years of his sickness. I hated him, yet I loved him and wanted him to love me back. He couldn’t because he existed in a place of darkness so smothering it destroyed his ability to tell right from wrong. His crimes and sins finally caught up with him, though. He was arrested by a vampire tribunal and was facing a death sentence which caused him to have a revelation about the man he’d become. It was God who propagated that revelation for my father and he repented of his horrible crimes and all the vicious, insufferable things he did to me. He begged me to forgive him and I did. Today I have a wonderful, loving father who is no longer my enemy, but a man I can love and respect because he now walks with God.

What should we expect from you in your coming book?

Alabama Rain is an emotional roller coaster ride and I cried writing it more than any book I’ve ever written. Alabama’s father, Ken Holden was absolutely the most sick and twisted villain I’ve ever created. He murdered people, raped young girls, peddled copious amounts of drugs, did them himself and turned teen humans and vampires into drug dealers and addicts. An awful person he was until God opened his eyes to the vile, disgusting creature he’d been. In Alabama Rain, Ken gets saved and does everything in his power to make up for his evil. I felt Ken needed his own story that occurs after being imprisoned by a vampire tribunal for all his heinous crimes. My next book is Ken’s journey to forgive himself, which doesn’t come easy. He has some help, though. Lovely Eden McCallister, a vampire psychologist who deals with feral vampires, helps him see there can be life after being a feral vampire and forgiving oneself doesn’t mean discounting or forgetting the terrible things Ken did to other people.

The Book

Lana Campbell Alabama Rain for printAlabama Rain Holden’s life is a dreadful and dangerous one as a thief of drugs for her father, drug lord Ken Holden. Rain hates her life, but she’s damned good at what she does. As a vampire with an acute sense of smell, she can sniff out any drug as well as a blood hound, enchant the human mule with the goods to be sold and relieve him or her of the product without the person never remembering the encounter.

One night her drug thievery takes her to Davenport Tower, an opulent forty eight stories of luxury condos owned by the handsome, vampire billionaire, Nate Davenport. Rain’s job that evening is to locate the sellers carrying seventy-five pounds of Columbian weed, steal it and return the goods to her father. Unfortunately, the heist going down in Davenport Tower’s parking garage is interrupted by none other than Nate Davenport himself.

Nate is incensed when he discovers Rain is a drug dealer operating on his turf. He embarks on a mission to catch her committing a crime so he can bring her before a vampire tribunal where she will pay for her crimes with her life. In his efforts to get the evidence Nate needs against Rain, he instead gets information he never bargained for. Once he learns her dark secret, that she’s been brutally forced into this life of crime by her maniacal father, Nate will stop at nothing to liberate her from her feral vampire father.

To survive in a world she hates, Rain adopts a bad ass persona. It doesn’t take Nate long to see the real Alabama Rain’s heart. She’s brave and fearless, kind and compassionate. She even puts her life on the line to save twelve young girls her father has turned into vampire drug dealers. Nate falls for her and hard. But Rain’s seedy, violent world may just cost him his life when Rain’s father discovers Rain and Nate have fallen in love.

The Author

Lana Campbell LowResLana Campbell is the author of the Forever and a Night vampire romance series. All of her books are psychological thrillers. They each have a Christian element, a feel good message and a romance so sweet and hot they’ll leave you breathless. She loves writing paranormal romance and is an avid reader of it too. From the time she was fourteen Lana always had a romance novel in her backpack and was reading it after school, at school, wherever she could find a few minutes to read. Reading enticed her to write. She wrote her first book in 1995, but never considered publishing anything until much later. She got serious about publishing in 2014 and book one, Forever and a Night came out in 2016. There are currently six more stand alone books in her series. Lana lives in Pea Ridge AR with her oldest daughter, Jessica and a cat named Jenna. If she’s not writing you can probably find her at the nearest lake.

So what do I write?

Christian paranormal romance psychological thrillers. Quite a combination, huh? Well, my vampires are most unique. I can almost promise you won’t find them typical. Some are famous billionaires, a few are OB/GYN’s for vampires. I’ve also got a computer geek, a interior decorator and oh, last but not least a thief of drugs.
Each story has bigger than life heroes and heroines and you won’t be able to help getting invested in their lives and all their drama. There’s always a villain you’ll love to hate who will stop an nothing to destroy the MC’s lives and love.

All stories have a message of redemption in them, leaving you feeling good after the drama-drenched rollercoaster ride of danger and disasters for the hero and heroine.

You’ll get no cliffhangers with my stories. All stand alone and all have happily every afters.

If you’re looking to sink into a story that will sweep you away and leave you hungry for more, try the books in my Forever and a Night series. You’ll be glad you did.

Author Interview: Jennifer Ann Schlag

It’s Thursday! The middle of the week is gone and I got another awesome featured today. I am featuring a good friend of mine from New York. Hope you will stop in and check out Jennifer Ann Sclag in her author interview.

The Interview

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am from New York and, although it can be a rough place to live, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Growing up around books and movies, I easily fell in love with storytelling from an early age. I wrote short stories throughout my childhood but wrote my first professional screenplay in 2002 (Goval: Parallel Destiny). After abandoning writing for a few years, I picked it back up and wrote the novel version to that screenplay, and that is when aspiring filmmaker became aspiring author. I am seriously addicted to YouTube and Netflix. It is often a distraction for my writing time. Sometimes people ask where I come up with my story ideas and I simply say I find inspiration from everything around me. Life is inspiration.

What genre do you write in? Why?

Dark fantasy/fantasy. Although I grew up watching sci-fi movies, fantasy movies have always been my favorite. Fantasy has a way of making you forget reality for a while, and we all need that. It transports you into another world and, for a moment, you believe in magic and that the impossible is possible.

What inspired you to become an author?

Watching movies and reading books. From there the passion for reading grew and the desire to write stories blossomed.

Tell us about your latest release?

Many who have travelled into the Veiled Haven have never returned, and those that do are forever changed. When opportunity arises for Talen to venture there with a spoiled prince, secrets are revealed about both of them which will change their position in life and what they mean to each other.

How did you come up with the story within your book? What inspired your creativity?

I saw a friend’s premade book cover for sale with a woman and dragon on the cover and instantly the story came to me.

Tell us about your main character in your book. What makes them unique?

Talen is a young woman who could always talk to animals, but mastering a talent such as talking to every animal in the world, even the sacred ones, is a skill only the Masters of the Veiled Haven can acquire. She often gets herself in trouble but manages to find a way out of it barely scarred or bruised.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years as a writer?

Writing more books. Hopefully very successful before those 5 years.

Who is your biggest support system in your life?

My facebook author friends.

Who are your top three favorite authors?

Stephen King, Jordan Frost, and Shakespeare.

What is the one thing you want to say to your readers?

Always keep a foot in the past, your heart in the present, and your mind in the future.

Excerpt

The howling wind pierced Niamh’s ears as she lie sprawled out on the ground. Her fire-red hair whipped all around her face. As she snapped back into consciousness, she groaned and slowly rolled to her side. She reached up to the corner of her mouth and wiped at the blood trickling down her chin and then lifted her gaze to the noise no more than ten feet away. She blinked at the sight before her.
Not far from where she laid two men battled one another. Neither of her blades could cut the aggression given off by the two of them. To make matters worse, her brother appeared to be winning.
A dark flare shone brightly in his once green eyes as his opponent’s blade pierced just beneath his collarbone on the right side. He laughed … with no gusto, no heart. There was nothing that reflected amusement in his laugh. It was closer to the cackle of a hyena than anything else. Blood began to soak through his clean white pressed cotton shirt. In a gruff voice, he yelled, “Is that the best ye can do?”
Her brother’s fist connected with his opponent’s broad chin. Despite their height and weight difference, the tank of a guy, Jarrett, stumbled back a few steps and his sienna brown hair fell out of place.
There had to be something she could do. She had power. She knew how to wield it. This was the fight that would alter her future forever. Getting to her feet, Niamh focused on collecting a shockwave in her hands. She had to time the release perfectly; otherwise she chanced harming the wrong person.
Her brother’s lips curled fiercely into a deep grin as he yanked the blade from his shoulder. No sound escaped his mouth. A breath of air could hardly be noticed as he removed the twelve-inch, double-edged dagger from his body. It seemed to cause him no pain or perhaps he merely reveled in it. Taking advantage of the tank’s stumbling he stepped forward with a full grip on the hilt of the blade and swiped at him.
Jarrett jerked his face back and barely avoided getting cut with his own blade. The swipe missed by less than an inch.
Her brother was shorter than the tank. He found the momentum needed to gather his footing and spun around, striking her brother with an elbow jab to the throat.
She needed more time. This shockwave had to be the most powerful she had ever dispersed. Niamh watched on as the fight progressed and continued to focus the gathering ball of energy through her entire body.
Her brother used the force of the tank’s steps and shoved the double-edged dagger with full strength into the back of his shoulder. He cackled with glee as his opponent cried out from the pain. “Come on! Ye were supposed to be this high an’ mighty warrior! I thought this would be a challenge!”
Backing away, a wrinkle settled upon the bridge of his nose and beads of sweat formed on his brow. Gritting his teeth, he placed his hand on the hilt and yanked the blade from his shoulder. He threw his head back and howled, then faltered and fell to his knees.
“No!” Niamh screamed.
He couldn’t die! The agony in his outcry provided her the necessary strength to charge the strongest force of shockwave she’d ever managed. A blue current crackled all over her body. Her normal emerald green irises changed to a deep aqua blue.
She was ready.
It was time to end this.
Her brother’s eyes twitched. With a Cheshire grin he planted his feet firmly against the ground. He shook his arms out, then went completely rigid. His eyes were the same shade of green as hers. At least they had been. Midnight black replaced the once emerald green that filled his eyes.
Niamh unleashed the full weight of the shockwave that had consumed her entire body. Blue electricity shot out from her arms, her legs, her fingers. The shockwave surged from every part of her toward her brother.
The energy pushed him back and tore at his skin, but it didn’t knock him down. Hardly any skin ripped open. Wait … no, it was healing, repairing itself before her very eyes! It hadn’t been strong enough. It hadn’t been the right call. The right power. The one she needed to defeat him once and for all.
Her brother lunged at her and wrapped his gangly hand tightly around her neck. Lifting her off the ground, he grinned. “See, I was just going to kill ye, but now I get to kill both o’ye.”
The air to her lungs constricted.
“Ye … don’t … want … to … do … this,” she managed to muster out between tiny breaths.
Tightening his hold around her neck, he pulled her face closer to his. He locked his gaze with her green eyes. “Súil na Éireannach.”
The grin on his lips broadened as his other hand reached out and stroked her sultry red hair. His grip tightened again. Color drained from her face as she struggled to breathe.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to end.
She was the one who was supposed to be victorious.
She was supposed to save them all.
“Killin’ ye first an’ making ‘em watch will be my pleasure.”
Slowly Jarrett stood. Jumping into action, he ran toward them like a bull charging its handler. “Niamh!”

Abruptly Niamh sat up gasping for air. Wiping the beads of sweat from her brow, she looked around. She half expected to find her brother hovering over her with his hands wrapped tightly around her neck. That wasn’t the case.
She was at home, in her room. There was no movement from the Horslips or the Phil Lynott posters that hung on the wall. Both her dresser and desk were completely still. Not even the sound of wind could be heard bustling against her bedroom window. There was no movement from her closet; her clothes hung just as she had left them.

Author Interview: Lana Campbell

Hey guys and gals, hope you’re having an awesome day. I know I am. Today I got a special treat for you all. I’m featuring PNR author Lana Campbell in her very own author interview. Hope you will take the time to get to know this awesome author. Check out what she has to say below.

The Interview

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Lana Campbell is the author of the Forever and a Night vampire romance series.

What inspired you to become an author?

I’d have to say my love of romance books. I was a reader for years and one day decided to try my hand at writing. That was 1994. I joined a great writers group in Springfield MO, Ozark Romance Authors and learned a great deal about writing. I didn’t publish until much later though.

If you could change one thing about your life what would it be and why?

There are a number of things I would change regarding decisions I’ve made. I guess the main thing would be to love and forgive unconditionally when I was younger and didn’t understand the value of doing so.

Tell us about your latest release?

It’s a time travel romance starring vampires. Parts of it are futuristic and parts are historical, set in medieval times. Here’s the blurb to give you an idea of who the players are:
For months Ariana Chauvenski has been dealing with strange, realistic dreams of a vampire she believes is her true life mate, Lord Bryce of Aragon, who exists in a time a thousand years removed from her own, twenty seventy-seven. While the dreams are deliciously intimate and sweet, they’ve left her bereft and exhausted. She’s desperate to understand these nightly dreams and shares her problem with a girlfriend who Googles Lord Bryce of Aragon and discovers a Hungarian Lord with that name lived over a thousand years ago. Ariana is shocked when she finds out Bryce was born in the very year he claimed in one of her dreams. She contacts one of his decedents and learns he owns an ancient castle in the Carpathian mountains where she knows Bryce once lived. It operates now as a bed and breakfast. Ariana makes immediate plans to travel there, hoping she can find answers to her troubling dreams.

Once Ariana arrives at the Aragon castle deep in the Carpathian mountains, she hunts for clues and finds a portrait of the man of her dreams along with a headboard that has a beautiful waterfall carved into it. Ariana thinks the headboard must have belonged to Bryce because in every one of Ariana’s dreams, she meets Bryce at a pristine waterfall in a forest. Could Bryce have had dreams of her too?

Ariana believes the waterfall is near the castle and goes to hunt for it, but she finds far more than she bargained for when she goes spelunking in a cave behind the fall. Within the cave is a time portal that takes her back to the year eleven ninety-two. There she meets her dream lover, Bryce, along with a feral vampire who attempts to kidnap her, but Bryce thwarts him. When Ariana realizes her savior is Bryce, she believes her prayers to find her life mate have been answered. Then reality sets in. Can she remain with Bryce in his time or will she wake up one day back in her own? She knows she and Bryce are destined to be life mates and Bryce knows this too. Both fear losing each other and to make matters worse the feral vampire who tried to abduct her is terrorizing Bryce’s people and wants Ariana for his life mate. Bryce, who is a feral hunter, appointed by the Empirical Vampire Tribunal, searches for the feral relentlessly and one night uses Ariana to bait him. Ariana, Bryce and his men chase the feral vampire into the cave behind the fall. Bryce and Ariana pass through the time portal and land in the year twenty seventy-seven. What they don’t know is if the feral vampire went through the time portal as well, but Bryce is determined to find him, be it in Ariana’s time or his own.

They also face the plaguing question: where in time will they live together? Ariana grieves over the prospect of never seeing her family again and Bryce fears he’ll never find a place in a world with flying cars, holographic computers and teleportation devices. Can there be a happily ever after for Ariana and Bryce or will time or perhaps a feral vampire end up separating them forever?

How did you come up with the story within your book? What inspired your creativity?

I’ve only published stories about vampires. My take on the vampire world is unlike any story I’ve read, many of my readers say, and they like the unique angle. My kids were into Twilight and although I liked the books I didn’t like the younger characters. I wanted to write older, more mature characters, so in my first book I made the heroine forty-two with three grown girls. The ages of my protagonists range from mid-twenties to vampires over two hundred years old. Most behave maturely but not all.

Tell us about your main character in your book. What makes them unique?

Currently I have eight books in my series published. They’re all unique, but the vampires in my books all suffer from a blood disease that requires them to have human blood two to three times a week. They evolved from humans due to this blood disease and are very human-like. Some readers who are not fans of paranormal have really enjoyed the stories and my take on vampires. Most of them get their blood from vampire blood banks and take it IV.

Do you have any strange quarks you do while you write a book?

Not really. I do however get up around two or three in the morning to write before I go to work. I love writing in the middle of the night. Maybe I’m part vampire.

Who are your top three favorite authors?

Nora Robers, Christine Feehan and Hemmingway

What should we expect from you in the coming months?

More in this series. Book nine is two to three months away. I’ve also written a novella paranormal series called, Mystery of the Alien Blood. The first book should be out in a couple of weeks.

What is the one thing you want to say to your readers?

Thank you for giving a new author a chance and buying my books! I will say most are hooked. I’ve got a pretty good following and most people who try my books always come back for more.

Book Spotlight: Alabama Rain

Heya everyone today I got a special treat for you. I will be featuring a book titled, Alabama Rain by PNR author Lana Campbell. If you love vampire romance books make sure to stop in to check this one out.

Facebook Teaser

Excerpt

As soon as Rain stepped into the room her father’s familiar scent greeted her like a harsh slap to the face. She knew she’d just stepped into a trap before her eyes settled on the disgusting scene her father had staged.

He was sitting beside Destiny’s hospital bed in the plush, blue vinyl chair she’d resided on earlier and Destiny was sitting across his lap, still wearing a hospital gown. One of his muscled arms was snaked around her waist. Rain watched his other hand, which had been resting at his side, raise. He held a small, shiny silver dagger with a pearl handle. Rain’s heart nearly stopped when he placed the razor sharp edge against Destiny’s throat. She’d seen her father use the thing before on hirelings that fucked him over. It was a deadly little weapon not even five inches long, but it could cut through flesh as if it were butter.

Destiny sucked in a sharp breath and her eyes went wide with fear. Her pupils were hugely dilated. So much so Rain could barely see the bronze irises. The teen’s body shook with a violence born of terror.

The last thing Rain took note of was her father’s eyes, which were riddled with hate and honed on her. She could sense rage brewing in him. It was right below the surface of what appeared to be a very calm, calculated demeanor. But Rain knew her father too well. He was not at all in control. He was incensed with her for stealing Destiny and this time it wouldn’t be her body that suffered the consequences of her actions. No. It was going to be Destiny that paid for her sins.

“Oh God, Papa, no!” Rain cried. She dropped her bags and fell to her knees assuming the most pleading, submissive pose she could manage around the desperation and fear flowing through her veins like quicksilver.

Her father ignored her. His steely gaze was now fixed on Mia. Rain couldn’t see Mia because she was behind her, but she didn’t have to in order to know the woman was entrenched in the same pool of crippling fear Rain found herself drowning in.

Seconds later she too made a plea for Destiny’s life. “Sir, please put the knife down. She’s just a little girl. Please have mercy.”

“Fuck your mercy, bitch. Neither one of these two ungrateful cunts deserve mercy.” As if to punctuate that fact, he pressed the knife deeper into Destiny’s tender flesh. “Make a sound and I’ll slit you ear to ear. Do I make myself clear?” he snarled into Destiny’s ear

Destiny wheezed as she inhaled, but she didn’t cry out. She didn’t even whimper. But it looked to Rain as if it was taking every ounce of effort she possessed to remain still and silent. She was so obviously terrified but holding it together like a real trooper. If she could just continue to do her part, Rain would gladly die trying to do hers, which would be to trade her places.

Oh fuck, he’d cut her, Rain realized when a thin stream of blood trickled down Destiny’s neck and soaked into the neckline of her hospital gown. Oh shit! What to do? What to do? Rain wanted to scream. No. She wanted to pounce on her father, wrangle that knife out of his hand and plunge it into his black, evil heart, but that wasn’t going to happen. She had only herself to use as a bargaining tool for Destiny’s life.

“Papa, what do you want me to do? Name it. I’ll do anything you ask if you’ll let her go.”

Her father made a noise, part snort, part laugh. “You’re going to do what I want you to do regardless of what I do to this girl. But because you took it upon yourself to take her away from me, I think I’ll make her pay for your insolence.”

Mia stepped up beside Rain and held out both of her hands in a supplicating way. “Look, I know what you are. I know you could care less about that child, but I do care about her. I’m Mia Davenport. I’ll pay you any amount you want if you’ll turn her over to me. Just give me a number and I’ll have the money to you right here within the hour.”

Rain’s father started laughing. “I know who you are and I could care less about you and your money. This isn’t about you. This is about two very bad girls running off. Now they’re both going to learn what happens to bad girls who run away.”

His hand that had been resting on Destiny’s stomach whipped up and grabbed a handful of her hair in a motion so quick had Rain blinked she would have missed it. In one swift, fluid movement, he yanked her head back and sliced deep into her throat. Blood sprayed outward from the ghastly wound pelting Rain’s face. Rain let loose a blood curdling scream. So did Mia. That brought nurses en mass to the room, but by this time of course it was too late for Destiny.

Author Interview: Krys Fenner

Hope you are having a good weekend. I got a treat for you. I’m featuring fantasy author Krys Fenner in an author interview. Take some time out of your busy weekend and check out what she has to say.

The Interview

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I was born and raised in Florida, which is where I fell in love with writing and creating alternate worlds. It started as anything fantastical or mythological, but when I was in my junior year of high school, my creative writing professor challenged me to write something different. I had to get ideas from my friends, but I accepted and excelled at his challenge. I wrote my first ever short story dealing with a traumatic event. Since then, I’ve had a knack for incorporating tragedies into my work, even in my fantasy novels.

What is the weirdest thing you ever put into your books?

Honestly, some of the creatures are pretty strange in my Urban Fantasy series. The one that jumps out at me the most are catalyncs. They serve as guides and have a unique form.

What genre do you write in? Why?

I write in two different genres: YA Urban Fantasy and YA/NA Social Issues. One is a story I have been building for over 8 years and it’s simply because I’ve always been attracted to the unusual. The other is because there are some dark things that people as young as thirteen (sometimes younger) face every day and I want them to know they aren’t alone. My intention is for my social issues books to be conversation starters.

Who is your biggest support system in your life?

My mom. She is absolutely amazing! I probably couldn’t do half of what I do without her.

What inspired you to become an author?

I have these stories in my head that simply need to be told.

Tell us about your latest release?

This is the first book in the Guardhian Series and it starts with a thirteen-year-old girl who is just getting powers she knew nothing about. Niamh suddenly finds herself trying to figure out how to use these powers so she can save her loved ones from an unknown evil.

How did you come up with the story within your book? What inspired your creativity?

Believe it or not, this all started because I created a character (one of Niamh’s future children) for roleplaying purposes. I used to game online. Anyway, I came up with a full background for this character and a whole other world that her mother had been responsible for protecting. These characters and others served as a great way to escape and connect with people online who had a fascination with the other worldly like me.

Who are your top three favorite authors?

J.R. Ward, Colleen Hoover, and Janet Evanovich

What are you reading right now?

I’m currently working on my MFA, so I’m reading Build Your Author Platform for class.

What is the one thing you want to say to your readers?

No dream is too small or too big. Go after what you want and don’t let anyone stop you.

Nikolaj is the second in command to his feisty new mates rival pack. His pack mates have been coming up dead for weeks. The only course of action is to blame the rival pack alpha for the crimes. But, when he goes to confront the enemy alpha things get hairy. Now imprinted to the new she-alpha Nikolaj man pride is put to the test. Will he be able to find a balance to keep his mate?

McKayla Schutt switches the roles in this book of hers. Instead of the usual dominant male lead taking over the pack with a female trying to find her place, we find ourselves with a female alpha. She does a wonderful job showing the emotional struggle for both her main characters. Each faces their own obstacles while trying to keep a level head. Not only that you can see the strength the two pull off each other. Her world building is spot on and makes like-able characters that make you fall in love with them on page one. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a twist on the tradition male power role. It’s about time a female took the lead.

Author Interview: Ariel Paiement

Heya everyone, today I have a special treat. I will be featuring fantasy author Ariel Paiement in a special author interview. Check it out below to get to know more about this author and her upcoming release.

The Interview

Please introduce yourself.

I’m Ariel Paiement, a fantasy author who dabbles occasionally in sci-fi or historical fiction. I’ve been writing since I was a little kid, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of the journey to get to where I am. Yes, even the moments when I was sitting there crying because a scene just wouldn’t work. I appreciated those moments more after they were over, of course.

What inspired your latest release?

It was inspired by a combination of world-building information from Pathway of the Moon–first in the companion series Annals of Alcardia–and a prompt from Wattpad’s Open Novella Contest. The prompt was called Myths of the Old World and had to do with the idea of truth being a lie and the lie becoming truth. The prompt really pulled together the idea with the other historical events I knew happened in Alcardia’s past. Those events tied into Pathway of the Moon, and so this story gave me a chance to “share the facts” while still pulling the reader into the world in a fun, immersive way.

Tell us about your main character.

I have two. Kaidan and Zerua are a husband and wife Seeker team, and they work together on various historical sites around the world of Alcardia. They work for a historical and Seeker guild (their version of an archaeological society) known as the Society of the Learned or just the Society for short. The two of them get themselves into all kinds of trouble when they dug up a diary that belonged to Queen Bane of Ashkarith. Both of them are witty, though in different ways, and enjoy a good laugh. They don’t always agree on what constitutes a good laugh, but they definitely enjoy life. Zerua has a tendency to worry while Kaidan is usually the even-keeled one who calms her down. She’s also the fiestier of the two. But Kaidan is more impatient than she is. They balance each other out and work well together most of the time.

Why did you decide to become a writer?

You know, I don’t really know. I’ve been writing since I was a kid, and I’ve always loved stories. Whether reading, writing, or just daydreaming, I’ve always been one to immerse myself in other worlds and other lives, even when they were fictional. This just naturally spilled over into a desire to keep writing and to write stories that others like me could enjoy. I guess as time as gone on, I’ve stuck with it out of both enjoyment and a desire to share with children and young adults the same joy of reading that was imparted to me as a child. My hope is that my books will be something that even reticent readers will be able to enjoy.

What is your writing process like?

Very structured. I’m definitely a plotter. I like to use a combination of methods. Usually I start out with the Snowflake method from Randy Ingermanson and move on to using a mix of Rachel Aaron’s and Jordan Rosenfeld’s methods of planning for plotting out my scenes. I won’t start writing a chapter until I have all the scenes plotted out, and I rarely start a book unless I have everything from character charts to a synopsis done. The only thing that doesn’t have to be completely finished before I can start is that scene list.

Do you have any strange quarks you do while you write a book?

I talk to myself. Sometimes I can be loud about it too. My sister will be watching YouTube in the room, and I’ll just suddenly set the computer aside and start ranting about how annoyed I am at something a character did. She always laughs because it’s my book, so I did it to myself. But yeah… I definitely talk to myself a lot even if it’s incoherent mumbling.

I’m also really particular about organization. I’m a plotter all the way, so everything needs to be in place for each scene before I start writing. Beyond that, I’m really particular about how my writing space is organized. Everything needs to be neat and uncluttered for me to work. If I’m sitting on my bed, it has to be made and straightened out regardless of whether I’m under the covers or not. Anywhere else, the surface has to be clean. I can’t think or focus on writing if it isn’t. It just makes me antsy.

What genre does your book fall into?

High fantasy in this case, though other books within the Alcardian universe could potentially be considered portal fantasy or alternate world fantasy since the universe is connected to ours and others. But for Bane of Ashkarith, it’s just high fantasy.

Why did you decide to write within that genre?

High fantasy and fantasy in general allows for a lot of freedom to create and build worlds. I really enjoy that. World-building, when done well, is one of my favorite parts about reading fantasy, and I love having the chance to bring what I’ve learned from reading well-written fantasy into my own work. Plus, fantasy is what I know the best. I’ve been reading it since I was seven or eight, and it’s remained my favorite genre to this day.

Who inspires you to write in your normal day life?

Honestly, I don’t know. I guess my youngest sister does. She reads anything that’s at her age level that I write. I think she’s read some of the books she’s allowed to read multiple times, in fact. Knowing that she’s waiting for an update and enjoys reading my work, and knowing that it inspires her to keep reading and writing herself, definitely encourages me to keep going.

What authors inspired you to write your own book?

Well, my roots for fantasy definitely go back to Tolkien. He was my first major exposure to high fantasy, and the things I took away from reading his work will go with me through the rest of my writing career. But the most obvious influence is Brandon Sanderson. I’ve read a good chunk of his writing, and the Stormlight Archives in particular have heavily influenced me as a writer. He’s inspired me to reach for more with my world-building and my characterization by showing that it’s entirely possible to have both. I’ve striven to have that balance in Bane of Ashkarith wherever possible, and it’s shown in other works of mine as well. Obviously, I’m nowhere near Sanderson’s level of expertise on this, but just seeing that it could be done inspired me to write Bane of Ashkarith the way I did.
