Book Review: Vampire Shift

I stumbled across this new author named Tim O’Rourke in a book funnel promo. Usually, I don’t like reading vampire books but fell in love with his series. He has a vast number of books and I plan to read them all. I mean it he has around 60 books, and this girl is making it a mission to read them all if it kills her.

So, far I have made it through two series and half-way through the third in his Kiera Hudson books. He has other series with different characters I plan to jump into later on. With this project I plan to write a review on each book as I complete them. Right now I have several reviews to write up before I can share them. Expect this to be like a series of reviews for this author.

The first book I will review is the “Vampire Shift.” It is the first book that drew me in so deep that I can’t get enough of this author now. So, hang on tight as I get my wits about myself.

The Review

Kiera Hudson is a new recruit sent to the Ragged Cove. She meets up with Sergeant Murphy, Luke Bishop, and an examiner named Sean Potter (a.k.a just Potter). Everything doesn’t seem right in the small town of Ragged Cove. The weather is always bad with snow and civilians fear for their lives.

Rumors of vampires causing all the deaths and the police department only working the night shift. Things just keep getting weirder. She has to figure out who is behind the killings and who it is that is following her. This book has twists, turns and keeps you guessing till the end.

I sat down to read this book not knowing anything about the author or the world within. I thought the synopsis was interesting and found it to be an amazing read. It hooked me after the first few pages and I couldn’t put it down. I devoured this book in one day and I couldn’t stop there. I started on the adventure with this series and have plenty more in store.

If you love vampires, werewolves, or creatures of the night this book is what you are looking for. Tim O’Rourke keeps you reading and wanting more. I even broke down and got kindle unlimited to read his books. Snatch up this read as soon as you can. It is a PERMAFREE book that begins the series.

Ranking: 5 out of 5 stars!

The Book

When Kiera falls for police officer Luke Bishop, not only are her mind and heart opened to a terrifyingly new world, she comes to suspect that Luke might be involved in the killings. In a race against time to unearth the truth, Kiera must discover the identity of who – or what – is behind the gruesome deaths on her Vampire Shift.

JENKINS_2019_WB_BANNERThe land of Tarzinëa is home to five powerful kingdoms. Each kingdom is made up of different strongholds and creatures a like. The depths of power each wields is adversary, but together they are indestructible. Throughout, times of peace and war these kingdoms have fought and bled by each other’s side. However, in time distrust was born and unity fell beneath the squabbles of old foes. As time distanced them they forgot the power they once obtained and fell back into old habits. Hate filled them and now these kingdoms stand on the brink of collapse.

With a new hero emerging amongst the humans only time will tell if this one person can change the tides of fate. If this one person can save them from themselves and unite the nations under one banner like the first Queen. Will Kero raise the army that will change Tarzinëa’s fate or will they become just a memory.

Tarza ~ Is the land of the humans. At the time of its creation King Rodrik ruled supreme. As time went on, he married Queen Karigan of Zõrron, uniting the two kingdoms as one. The dragon ryders became a stronghold name with Queen Karigan at the front of the ranks. Soon the Varrin was born, a knighthood that united all kingdoms under one banner. This soon created the Empire. But, with every great army and ruler in time they fell. Now waiting to rise with the rightful heir to the forgotten throne.

Vladïmir ~ The land of the elves. Since the dawn of time there were elves. They held the favor of their Goddess Salza. In times of peace they remained closed off from the world keeping to themselves. When change came upon them through the fate of their Prince, they had no choice but to listen to the winds. Now bonded to the dragon ryders they journeyed out into the world and created a partnership with the humans. However, time will show that friendship was weak as everything fell into ruin. As the Empire falls, they turn their backs on the outside world choosing to save themselves from the darkness growing inside the Mountains of Zorric.

Mountains of Tõrrin ~ The dwarven kingdom. A vast land below the mountains exists where the dwarves dwell. They worship the mighty hammer of Kortez their god. Without the god’s blessing they will not join the ranks of battle or bring unity beyond their walls. During the time of peace they grew mighty in strength but fell with the Empire. They still do business with the outside world but despise the elves and distrust the humans immensely.

The Forest of Ferrês ~ The lands of beasts. This world is by far the most secretive of them all. Creatures of all kinds gather within hiding from the world at large. Man has never entered without the blessing of the forest. If they enter by accident, the creatures within will destroy them letting no one leave to tell its secrets. Within, old allies of the first Queen remain but long forgotten as tales of myth. But, when the sword returns they will come to her aid once more.

Zõrron ~ The forgotten kingdom. Many have heard tales of ryders that flew on the backs of dragons. They served all kingdoms of all races. Nothing could touch them till a great evil was born. Then followed the exile that allowed them to become a fairytale. Dragons no longer exist as far as the world without knows. But, there are those that remember and as long as they remember the ryders will always have a home to return too.

Bonds of Friendship Needs Votes!

If you haven’t heard I have an account over on now. They offer all kinds of awesome benefits for authors through promotion. One big feature they offer is a monthly cover contest with awesome prizes. The prizes are like gold to an indie author like myself. Especially, since my promo budget is non-existent.

The cover contest has four rounds of voting and each person can vote each round for as many covers they like. So, far I made it through round #1 and round #2 just started. I need to break the top #50 covers to make it to round #3.

This is where you come in…I need you to vote for my cover, Bonds of Friendship. Please cast your vote as soon as possible. Right now there is only 6 days left for this round and every vote counts. I will greatly appreciate your support.

What’s to Come…

It has been a few crazy weeks for this girl. Between the design projects, organizing, getting ready for four takeover events and dealing with the kids, it has been hectic. This next month I plan to make changes and get back to writing on my blog. Right now with all the crazy going on I will publish two posts a month.

The first post will feature a normal update with life, writing and my design work. This post will also contain information about my works in progress. I will talk about where I am at in the project, provide teasers, or discuss situations I am struggling with. It will depend a lot on what is going on with that project when writing my post.

The second post each month will be different. I am calling this feature, Worlds Beyond. What is this all about? Well, it is a fun way for me to introduce you to my works in progress. I will discuss anything and everything about the world I am creating. There could be character features, where the character comes in and talks to you. Another, fun post is the world building features. I will do break downs about the world and the different places within it. Creatures will be another fun feature that will get mixed into the works. Overall, the Worlds Beyond feature is to showcase the worlds and beings within it to you my readers. You will have to wait and see what I have in store for you.

Now that you know my blog schedule I plan to spend the next bit talking about my works in progress. Right now I am working hard on two projects. The first is my Tales of Ferrês series. I just released story #7 as of March 31st. This means I have four more stories to write, edit and complete to finish the series. Once these stories are done and released, I then will write another story as a bonus to include in the bundle book. I am hoping to have this project completed before August.

My other project is my Vortex Series: Book 1 (doesn’t have a title yet). On March 25th I released the first chapter to the members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List. What do you mean released a chapter? Well, I decided with this project that I would release it in a rough form with basic edits to my members. They then will get to see the story unfold over the next several months chapter by chapter. Once this project is completed I plan to do a comprehensive edit, send it out to betas and complete it. As I dot the I’s and cross the T’s, I will then put the final touches on this project and release it to the public. All members of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List at time of publication will get a free e-copy. Now comes the question you have been waiting for. Are you a member? If not, you can become a member of my Dragon Ryder VIP Readers List by clicking the image below.

This month I am participating in Camp NaNo, so I hope to put a dent in some of these works in progress. Wish me luck and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
